Cut the butter into 8 slices. Place in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Allow the butter to melt, then add in the garlic and shallot. Allow the butter to simmer for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent. 1/2 cup salted butter, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon finely diced shallot
Add in the salt and rice. Stir well for 1-2 minutes until all of the rice is coated. 1 teaspoon fine salt, 2 cups basmati rice*
Add the water and stir well. 3 cups water
Make sure the rice is all covered with water, then place a lid on the pan. Simmer for 15 minutes without opening the lid.
Then turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for another 5 minutes. Then remove the cover and fluff the rice with a fork.
Garnish with freshly snipped green onions or your favorite herbs like rosemary, thyme or parsley. 1/3 cup sliced green onions
