We’re quickly spiraling into that back-to-school season. Back-to-school…back to kids and their busy sports schedules. This year our evenings will be filled with running kids to soccer and cross-country. Throw a fewย danceย classes in there for Kinsleeย and my evenings fly out the window.

I keep telling myself that I really do love seeing my kids active. It’s a blessing, and one that I won’t have for that many more years.

These days I have a hard time keeping healthy food on the table. With the kids as active and as hungry as they are, I’ve really encouraged them to start drinking smoothies and protein shakes to get more veggies, fruits and proteins in their diets.

I’m always trying to come up with new combinations for smoothies and shakes. One of my favorite flavor combinations is chai spice, so I knew I needed to create a chai protein shake using vanilla protein powder and those savory chai spices!

What does this chai protein shake have in it? ย Milk, strongly brewed tea, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and then protein powder. You can even addย a tablespoon of chia seeds for extra nutritional value.

When you are adding all of the ingredients to the shaker bottle, be sure to add the protein powder last. This ensures that the integrated mixer will blend it all in smoothly.

Great recipe. I used homemade cashew oat milk and left out the vanilla extract due to a sensitivity to the alcohol in extracts. Fabulous shake! Making it again tomorrow.
