Turkeyย Bacon Lettuce Wrapsย are the perfect way to enjoy a low carb sandwich. Fresh veggies, deli turkey, bacon and avocado. It’s on of my favorite make ahead lunches.
If you love the flavors of a turkey BLT sub, but don’t want the carbs that bread offers these Turkey Bacon Lettuce Wraps are the answer. By rolling your favorite sandwich ingredients in large pieces of lettuce, you make the perfect gluten-free lunch!
Ingredients
- Lettuce. Romaine lettuce is great for lettuce wraps, but you can also use the outer layers of a head of iceburg lettuce.
- Cheese. Sliced cheddar, or whatever your favorite cheese flavor is. Swiss, provolone and gouda is great, too.
- Tomato. There’s nothing like making this turkey bacon lettuce wraps when you have fresh garden tomatoes. So so good!
- Red onion. Red onions are great on sandwiches not only because of their color, but also the strong flavor.
- Deli turkey. Or if you happen to have leftover smoked turkey, roasted chicken or baked ham, use it in this recipe. You won’t regret it.
- Bacon. Want to know my secret for adding bacon to savory recipes? Use maple bacon. I use it in my 7 layer salad and broccoli salad. The slightly sweet flavor is next level.
- Avocado. Or homemade guacamole. Whichever you have on hand.
How to Make Turkey Bacon Lettuce Wraps
- Place parchment paper down on the counter or a table. On the paper, layer the lettuce, cheese, tomato and red onion.
- Then layer the turkey, bacon and avocado.
- Use the parchment paper to roll the lettuce wrap, making sure to keep the paper on the outside of the roll. Fold in the paper as you go, as you would wrap a burrito.
- Wrap and roll until the parchment paper is completely rolled. Use a toothpick if needed to keep the wrap closed. Refrigerate until serving, then cut in half to serve.
Dressing for Lettuce Wraps
My favorite dressing for a turkey bacon lettuce wrap is ranch dressing. But mayo, mustard or even an herbed mayo all pair well with the wrap.
