You’ll love these traditional Rolo Pretzel Turtles that are perfect for gift giving during the holidays. Only 3 ingredients.

I love when fall hits and the holidays roll around because I want to bake all of the things. Pumpkin bread, chocolate caramel cookies, apple pies…baking food for my family to enjoy is a comfort to me.

But when Christmas rolls around and I see the trays of sprinkled Christmas cookies, it’s not the baked cookies that I reach for. It’s the candy.

Salty and sweet taste gets me every time, so these caramel pretzel turtles rank at the top of my wish list. Kids love these Rolo pretzel bites and you will, too. The treats will melt in your mouth!

About this Pretzel Rolo Recipe:

  • Flavor: Sweet and salty is the flavor of this easy treat recipe. You’ll taste chocolate and caramel. The hardest part is not eating them all at one sitting.
  • Texture: Crunchy pretzels and pecans pairs perfectly with creamy chocolate and chewy caramel.
  • Method: This recipe is made in the oven, although you’ll only need it for about 5 minutes.

Rolo Pretzel Ingredients

You’ll need just 3 ingredients for this recipe:

  • Pretzels. Use mini pretzels that are traditional shape or square.
  • Rolos. Rolos are widely available so it is a great candy to use. You could use another caramel filled candy such as Dove chocolates or Milky Way Simply Caramel.
  • Pecans. Use pecan halves so they are easy to press into the melted chocolate.

How to Make Rolo Pretzel Turtles

  • Preheat the oven to 300ยบF. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Lay the square pretzels (or other mini pretzels) down on the prepared pan in a single layer. Place an unwrapped Rolo candy on top of each pretzel.
  • Place a pecan half on top of the Rolo candy. You can do this after if you’d like, but the pecans I typically do it all at once.
  • Bake for 4-5 minutes in the preheated oven or until the chocolate is soft.
  • Press the pecan down into the chocolate candy. Or if you did not before, place a pecan on top of each of the Rolos and press slightly.

Recipe Variations

  • Drizzle with white chocolate for a contrast.
  • Top with a Hershey Kiss or Hershey hugs and an M&M instead of a Rolo and pecan.
  • Use chopped pecans and place a second pretzel on top while the chocolate is still melted for a pretzel sandwich.

Storage Instructions

You can store these in an airtight container at room temperature, the fridge or in the freezer. If you chose to freeze, allow them to thaw completely before opening the container so that they stay fresh.

How long can these store and still be good/tasty? Can you freeze them?

Oh my! I made these with my children and they are so delicious! We made a huge error though….we forgot to line the baking sheet and couldnโ€™t get the cookies off. ????????????. So funny! Thanks for the lovely, simple recipe. Next time, these we are going to nail this.

Werthers finally emailed me, the caramels are no longer made. Bummer, they were good.

Where did you buy the werthers baking caramels, I live in Dayton Ohio. The werthers company never answers my emails. So I ordered them through Amazon.

These look great, and so simple! I’ve seen a couple of different ideas using caramels and pretzels like this, but I’m worried that the cooled product/leftover candies will be tough or hard to bite — like a salted caramel chocolate chip cookie I made recently; great out the the oven, but with the older cookies the caramel pieces were like hard candies. Thoughts? Ideas to avoid that? Thanks!

Wow this looks so yummy! I’ve made something similar before, pretzels Rolos and pecans, but this version looks great! You seem to make so many wonderful recipes! I’m cohosting a link up I think you’d be interested in, Delcious Dish Tuesday, it opens up at 12am EST TOMORROW. I hope to see another one of your Delcious recipes tomorrow!
