I know you’ve all been waiting for this recipe. We shared our Amish Friendship Bread Starter recipe yesterday. If you haven’t gotten that sweet sourdough starter mixed up and fermenting on your countertop, what are you waiting for?

One look at this cinnamon Amish friendship bread and you’ll be anxiously awaiting that 10-day sourdough cycle to be complete so you can get baking.

This is a classic bread.

It’s soft and moist. It’s full of cinnamon sugar flavor. It’s a one-bowl, no-rise, couldn’t-be-easier quick bread.

And if you’re not into baking quick bread, try baking the friendship bread batter in a muffin tin. You’ll prepare the pans the same way, but you’ll preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bake them for 5 minutes, then reduce the baking temperature to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 13 minutes. It’s a little trick I learned from Sally’s Baking Addiction in order to get the pretty domed tops that everyone loves on a muffin.

And another option? Bake the batter in a 9×13 cake pan to have an Amish friendship cake. The options are endless with this easy bread recipe!

I am on day 5 of my Amish Friendship bread and it is very flat – I have been letting the air out every day before I mash – should I not have been doing that or is this OK. I will be feeding it tomorrow so hoping it will rise again. Should I be starting over? Thanks

What else can you use this start for? Can you use it for the amish sourdough bread recipe you have and the chocolate amish bread recipe?

I used to make Amish friendship bread when I was a teenager, I baked the starter in many different ways but my favorite one had chocolate chips in it, yumm. I can’t wait to do this again for my family

When you go to bake the Amish friendship bread can you leave out the cinnamon and pudding and just make sourdough bread?

What size loaf pans do you use? If I am baking in 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 would it still make 2 loaves?

I am in the middle of a starter but will be out of town on day 10 and will not be able to bake. I plan on baking all but one starter to give as gifts. Should I freeze the starters until I can bake ? I will not be able to bake until day 14.
Thank you,

Hi Julie, I am going to be making my friendship bread. The thing that confuses me is the amount of instant pudding to use. Some recipes call for 1 large box, some 1 small box, and some 2 small boxes. I threw away an old recipe I used to use ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I would appreciate your help! Thank you.

Is there a trick to getting it out of the pan after it has baked? I made 6 loaves today- cooked some a little more, some a little less, let some sit longer before taking out of the pan and EVERY single loaf stuck in the pan and tore in half. I sprinkled the sugar into the pan after greasing like it says. I ran a knife around the edges and it would seem like they were loose and ready to go- but nope! So disappointing.
