A wonderfully rich and creamy white hot chocolate mix that comes together quickly easily. Use this to make a Starbucks copycat White Mocha.
So often Valentine’s Day is all about the red and pink punch. But when it comes to wintertime, I’d rather be holding a mug of hot cocoa than a cold glass of punch. This Valentine’s Day, make this white hot chocolate drink mix for a perfectly cozy gift.
It also makes a cute Christmas gift. Make a big batch and package in little jars with mini candy canes or peppermint sticks! Kids will love it.
Why you’ll love this white hot chocolate mix recipe:
- Mixes up in less than 5 minutes.
- Makes enough to serve 15.
- Stores easily.
- Homemade hot chocolate is creamy and sweet!
What is white hot chocolate made of?
You’ll need these simple ingredients:
- Powdered sugar: You can use granulated sugar instead of powdered, just stir well until melted. You can also put granulated sugar in a food processor to make the granules finer.
- Powdered milk: If you are gluten free, make sure to check this on the package. Milk powder can contain wheat so be sure to choose one that says gluten free.
- Powdered creamer: Use a flavored creamer to change the flavor of your hot chocolate or simply use unflavored creamer.
- White chocolate chips: Using a high-quality white chocolate chip is important. Ghirardelli’s is our favorite since it melts smoothly and evenly. Guittard is a great option, too.
- Marshmallows: It’s just not hot chocolate without marshmallows, right?
How do you make white hot chocolate mix?
This recipe is super easy to mix up.
- In a mixing bowl, add powdered sugar, powdered milk, creamer and one cup of white chocolate chips. Whisk well to combine.
- When you are ready to make the drink, add ⅓ cup of cocoa mixture to a mug, then pour in 8 ounces of hot milk or water. We prefer milk for more flavor and creaminess, but you can use water if you’d like.
White Hot Chocolate Toppings
If you are having a hot chocolate bar, have toppings ready such as:
- shredded coconut

So maybe I’m missing something. I made the white chocolate powder mix. When do I add the white hot cocoa powder? It sounds like I add the white chocolate powder mix ( how much?) and then add 1/3 cocoa mix to hot water or milk? Why not just use white cocoa mix by itself and not make all the other?
If I double the recipe, will I also have to double the cook time?
Do you know a non dairy substitute for the sweetened condensed milk?
I love white chocolate…and the only time I’ve had white chocolate cocoa is during the holidays at places like Starbucks. I’m so excited about this. Quick question. I don’t have a slow cooker. Can I use something like a dutch oven to cook on stove top? My grandchildren will love this wonderful treat!
Oh my goodness, this recipe for White Chocolate Cocoa sounds to good to be true! I can’t wait to make this for my hubby and our 3 children. I’ve actually never heard of White Chocolate Cocoa; truly sounds amazing, thanks!
