Reese’s Peanut Butter Oreo Truffles. Oreos, cream cheese, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces together in a bite-size, chocolate dipped treat.

Back a few years ago, I was at an art reception for my mother-in-law. At this reception, I ate a chocolate truffle that I thought was fantastic and wondered if I’d ever be lucky enough to get a similar recipe. ย It was smooth, chocolatey, rich and covered in chocolate. ย I hate to think how many of those truffles I ate that day.

Fast forward a few years, and my sister-in-law introduced me to Oreo Truffles, and it was after I tasted these that I realized these were THE art reception truffles! I was excited that the truffles I loved so much were just a simple mixture of Oreos and cream cheese. Who would’ve guessed?

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • A delicious tornado of peanut butter Oreos, cream cheese, Reese’s cups, Reese’s Pieces.
  • Light and soft inside. Even a bit gooey!
  • Easy homemade candy.
  • Perfect for gift giving and cookie exchanges.

What is the best chocolate for dipping truffles?

There are many options out there for melting chocolate to dip truffles in, but we have a few requirements. It needs to melt quickly, smoothly and taste delicious. The product that matches all 3 of these is Ghirardelli melting wafers. You can buy these in the grocery store right by the chocolate chips. Look towards the top of the shelf and youโ€™ll see 8 ounce bags of white, dark or milk chocolate wafers.

They melt so quickly in the microwave. The chocolate ends up smooth and not super thick which makes it easy to dip.

You can see what these wafers look like on Amazon but they are much cheaper in the store.

Can’t find these Ghirardelli wafers? You can use any kind of chocolate you’d like (milk, dark or semi-sweet) and in just about any form (squares, bars, chips, etc). Just don’t use mini chocolate chips. They don’t melt smoothly. And a high quality chocolate will melt more smoothly over a cheaper brand.

How to Make Reese’s Peanut Butter Oreo Truffles

  • Use a fork to dip the truffle balls completely into chocolate and put them on a  pan covered in parchment paper to set.  If you’d like, right after dipping, you can put some mini Reese’s Pieces on top for some color. The chocolate should set quickly since the truffle balls will be cold.

How to Store Truffles

These are best stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week in an airtight container. You can freeze them, but the chocolate may crack or get the white โ€œfat bloomโ€ on them. Theyโ€™ll still be deliciously edible though!
